Learner Factory Exposure Day

Beier Group hosts learners from 4 high schools in the Kwa-Dabeka Area, Pinetown, for a pivotal day, experiencing life inside a manufacturing plant.

Many young people don’t see manufacturing as a career of choice – and it’s easy to understand why. For many, the world of manufacturing feels distant, hidden behind factory gates, and is often misunderstood.

On 3 October 2025, Beier Group took an important step toward changing that perception. Through the Mkhulise Young Minds Development Programme, the company welcomed learners from four KwaDabeka schools for a full-day Factory Exposure and Career Day at its manufacturing facilities.

The initiative offered learners a first-hand look into the diverse world of manufacturing. They explored Beier Group’s operations, engaged with professionals from departments including operations, finance, sales, engineering, and research and development, and discovered how each function contributes to innovation and excellence in the sector.

Learners also had the opportunity to ask questions, present their key takeaways, and experience the human side of manufacturing – where creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork drive progress.

“Manufacturing isn’t just about machines; it’s about people, innovation, and creating solutions that move South Africa forward,” said a Beier Group representative. “If even one learner leaves believing that their future could be in this industry, then we’ve succeeded.”

The exposure day aimed to inspire learners to see manufacturing not as a closed-off world, but as an industry full of opportunity, one that builds skills, supports communities, and contributes to the country’s growth.

At Beier Group, empowering youth through education and exposure is part of a long-term vision: to nurture a generation that sees itself not just as job seekers but as creators, innovators, and leaders in manufacturing.
